My Chemical Romance – Headfirst For Halos 7″

This is one of the first My Chemical Romance 7″ singles to ever be released. If memory serves right, this is their first ever single and thus should be the first 7″ they ever released. To be honest I don’t remember that far back to figure out if “Headfirst For Halos” was their first single. I know there was a video for it and it was released as a single, but chronologically I don’t remember if it came out before “Vampires Will Never Hurt You.”

This record was mainly a U.K. 7″, but some were sold at local shows in and around New Jersey when the band was their early stages, definitely long before they blew up into a global phenomenon playing arenas and sparking protests in Mexico. I’m not sure how many copies were pressed, but they’re all on black vinyl and it was a joint release between Eyeball Records, their U.S. label, and Polydor Records, who released the 7″ in the U.K. At the time this 7″ was released, the band was not nearly as popular as they are now, so I’d be really surprised if there were more than 1,000 pressed. I’m willing to bet the number is closer to 500 than 1,000 copies.
