For Record Store Day 2011 Warner Bros. Records decided to release a split 7″ series featuring current label acts covering bands that have influenced them in some way. Along with Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mastodon were a part of the series. The Chili Peppers cover a Ramones song and Mastodon covers a ZZ Top song.

For the Green Day split, the band covered a Hüsker Dü song, “I Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely.” The 7″ comes housed in a picture disc sleeve with a RSD ’11 sticker and a title sticker on the front. It was pressed on two different colors; orange, which was widely available and was limited to 3,976 copies and 100 copies on clear, which were randomly included in store’s orders for the 7″ and was reportedly given to some Warner Bros. employees. Initially it was announced/reported that there would be 6,500 copies on orange, but later on it was announced on Record Store Day’s official list that only 3,976 copies were pressed on orange. There was also a delay in shipping these overseas, as only Canada and the U.S. received copies in time for Record Store Day. Europe and Australia did not receive copies of this split in time.
