There are a whopping 20 different pressings of the single for Bruce Springsteen’s “Fire.” However, some of them are only different because they were sold in different countries; they share the same catalog number, track listing and cover art. There are 13 – 7″ pressings and seven 12″ pressings. I have three different pressings (pictured below in the following order); the regular U.S. 7″, a promo U.S. 12″ and the UK 12″.

First, the U.S. 12″ promo has a black and white cover, the only one with such a cover. It has the same basic cover art as the rest of the pressings, only it’s in black and white instead of full color. It also comes in a regular jacket and not a paper sleeve or poster sleeve. The track listing is A1 “Fire (with spoken intro),” A2 “Fire (without spoken intro), B1 “Because The Night” and B2 “Seeds.” All the songs are taken from a live album box set entitled Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band Live 1975-85 5xLP box set featured here ** insert blog link for box set***.

Next up is the UK 12″, which has a blue border that has “Special 5-Track Edition” printed across the top in red ink and the track listing printed across the bottom in white ink. The track listing is A2 “For You (Live),” B1 Born To Run (live),” B2 “No Surrender (live)” and B3 Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out (live).” All the songs except A2 track are taken from a live album box set entitled Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band Live 1975-85. Track A2 is from a special edition of Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J..

The regular U.S. 7″ pressing has catalog number 38 06657 with “Incident On 57th Street (live)” on the b-side, which is taken from the Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band Live 1975-85 5xLP box set as well. On top of this 7″ pressing there is also a pro U.S. 7″, which has catalog number CS7 02639 with “Fire (with spoken intro)” and the a-side and “Fire (without spoken intro)” on the b-side.

To go along with the U.S. 7″ pressings, there is also a UK (2), Dutch, Portuguese, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Spanish (2) and Japanese (2) pressing. The Canadian pressing has the same track listing and cover art the regular U.S. 7″ pressing. The rest of the 7″ pressings have “For You (live)” on the b-side instead of “Incident On 57th Street (live).” “For You (live)” is also taken from the Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band Live 1975-85 5xLP box.

There are a few subtle difference amongst the seven different 12″ pressings. The promo U.S. 12″ pressing was already discussed, but Dutch and Portuguese 12″ pressings have different covers than any pressing already touched on here. The Dutch pressing does not have a blue border around the edges and the Portuguese pressing has hype text promoting on of the tracks on the single, “For You (Live)” which is apparently unreleased even though it can be found in the Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band Live 1975-85 5xLP box. Maybe that box set was not released in Portugal. There is also a UK, Spanish, Greek and Australian 12″ pressing, which have the same cover as the UK 12″ pressing. All the 12″ pressings have the same track listing, which can be found above.
