Bruce Springsteen – Rockin’ Live From Italy 1993

Posted: July 17, 2015 in Vinyl

Live albums have been all the rage lately in terms of unexpected releases. Some people may classify them as unnecessary as well, but not me. I tend to buy them to keep collections complete, or add to them in most cases. Personally I prioritize records like this; new studio material – b-sides albums – acoustic albums – compilations featuring a band I like – live albums – bootlegs. The only bootlegs I consider buying are live performances, studio sessions, home recordings and demos. I’m never going to buy a bootleg of a studio album.

This Bruce Springsteen live album/bootleg was recorded live in Italy at the Stadio (Stadium) Bentegodi in Verona on April 11, 1993. It’s entitled Rockin’ Live From Italy 1993 and was pressed as a double LP on black vinyl. The records are housed in a gatefold jacket, which has a lengthy description/critique of the Bruce Springsteen at the time of this performance and commentary on the album itself printed inside. It features 15 songs that span his entire discography up to the point of the show, and includes some covers as well. I’m not sure if this is a legit release or qualifies as a bootleg, as it’s not released by any label I’ve ever heard of. It was released by Vinyl Passion out of the Netherlands. The same label that released the Nirvana Live In Buenos Aires live album/bootleg I have and wrote a post about here:

I’m not sure how many copies were pressed, or if there are multiple pressings. Considering this was supposedly first released back in 2008, and I first saw it in U.S. distros and physical stores starting in 2014; there may very well be multiple pressings of this record. Obviously pressing info has never been released if I’m not sure if more than one pressings has been done for this record. However, to my knowledge it has only been pressed on black vinyl.

The sound quality is decent on this. Nothing spectacular but not bad enough to not warrant buying this. I would discourage people from buying this record if I thought the sound quality was terrible. Of course the sound will vary based on your setup, but on my modest setup I can’t find anything significant to complain about. Here is the track listing:

A1 I’m On Fire
A2 Because The Night
A3 Prove It All Night
A4 Human Touch
B1 The River
B2 Who’ll Stop The Rain
B3 Souls Of The Departed
B4 Born In The USA
C1 Light Of Day
C2 Hungry Heart
C3 Thunder Road
D1 Glory Days
D2 Born To Run
D3 Rockin’ All Over The World
D4 Working On The Highway
