It was inevitable that Dine Alone would press Moneen’s debut release, the Smaller Chairs For The Early 1900s EP. Originally released in 1999, it took about 20 years for it to be pressed on vinyl. The fact that over 20 years has passed is hard to think about and will definitely make majority of Moneen fans feel old.

Dine Alone did two variants for it, with the most limited one getting some of the extra touches they have been doing with their recent releases. There were a total of 500 copies pressed, with 100 on gold marble and 400 black. The gold marble is a “Dine Alone exclusive” despite the label being the only place to selling copies. Unless Canadian indie record stores got some copies. This EP is definitely not distributed in the U.S. though. This variant comes with an exclusive Dine Alone obi-strip, which they call a belly band. What makes it marble is that it’s not 100% transparent or opaque. There are darker gold swirls mixed into the record.

Other than that “belly band” there is no difference between the two variants. Both come in a single pocket jacket and with a “Euro style” inner sleeve, which is simply a printed dust sleeve printed on card stock. As far as I know no copies come sealed, and also do not come with a download card/code in any form.

This can be a tough record to find on the cheap for those of us in the states. It‘s not distributed, and Dine Alone is the only place selling it. The record itself it not terribly expensive; it’s the shipping price. The exchange rate will be in the U.S. dollar’s favor, but the shipping price essentially doubles the overall price. It’s 20 Canadian, plus 17 Canadian for shipping as the cheapest option. All for a single LP in a single pocket jacket with a printed dust sleeve.
